Rapper Okyeame Kwame has expressed disappointment to Graphic Showbiz over the ongoing Sarkodie-M.anifest feud.
Both Sarkodie and M.anifest have since June 30, dominated social media for jabs at each other in their most recent singles; Bossy, Kanta (Sarkodie), and God MC (M.anifest). Through these songs, both rappers have insisted on their place at the very peak of Ghanaian hip-hop, but Okyeame Kwame seems unimpressed by how it’s all panning out, cautioning that music today should be about partnership and not rivalry.
“The emphasis at this point should be ‘collaboration’. This is the new paradigm for music where competitors work together for a common good. Competition is dead, plain and simple. To put it plainly, it’s the number one killer of the industry. Instead of creating animosity, music should be used to bring fans together so we concentrate on developing a better performance culture”, he said.
Okyeame Kwame won Artist of the Year at the 2009 edition of the Ghana Music Awards. His new single, Hallelujah was released today, and features newcomer Abochie.
