Job Purpose

  • To grow, retain and execute on the private segment offering, related initiatives and activities aimed at creating value for the client and the bank (i.e. optimising client experience, building deep relationships and create profitability for the bank)

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Client

  • Analyses customers’ financial behaviour, current product holding and short to long term financial needs to identify sales opportunities that are mutually beneficial to the bank and the customer
  • Drives, measures and manages the implementation of agreed initiatives (e.g. minimum revenue per client initiatives) and a Drives, measures and manages the implementation of agreed initiatives (e.g. minimum revenue per client initiatives)
  • Formulates solutions on how to respond to a client’s needs and requirements accordingly (e.g. a client is experiencing a cash flow problem, the Private Banker needs to perform a full review on available current financial statements, potential payments which are due to the client, etc. and make suggestions on how to accommodate the client over a certain period, until the cashflow problem has been resolved. Determines affordability, refers to Credit if outside of the client’s estimated risk limit (ERL)

Financial

  • Identifies new business opportunities and expands opportunities across existing client base, in order to achieve defined financial budgets, through optimal growth of assets and liabilities, transactional, margin management and revenue streams in line with agreed targets.
  • Responsible for maintaining a healthy link between the Balance Sheet and Income Statement by managing the agreed margins at which facilities are made available to clients in the portfolio.
  • Ensures that all clients in the portfolio meet the segmentation criteria as per defined parameters.
  • Conducts ongoing client reviews and ensures effective client service and delivery of own portfolio financial objectives.
  • Maximises bank profitability and ensure value add to customers through cross-selling specifically focusing on wealth and lending opportunities. Manages through use of contribution reports

Risk

  • Adheres to sound account management principles for optimal credit portfolio management execution (i.e. reduced excesses, unauthorised overdrawn accounts and overdue reviews).
  • Prepares and submits quality credit applications for evaluation and/or approval by Credit, where required or oversees the preparation of credit applications. Conducts credit reviews as and when required.
  • Adherences to required compliance, legislative, regulatory, etc. requirements e.g. KYC.
  • Analyses, identifies and recommends adaption of operational procedures to minimise risk
  • Ensures Code of Banking Practice is adhered to.
  • Maintains information on Security and access control system (SACS) for the relevant private banking suite as per laid down procedure.
  • Ensures healthy data management for own portfolio (i.e., completeness, conformity and accuracy

People

  • Grow and develop the Private Banking team to continuously and competitively improve sales, service delivery and community development within the catchment.
  • Lead the team according to the lean leadership and employee engagement principles, including employee lifecycle from recruitment through to exit, performance management, training and development, discipline and grievance management, retention and reward and people administration, to ensure a high performance culture that will enable the achievement of catchment objectives and ultimately enhance the customer experience.
  • Implement the required People plan with support from the Human Capital Function. Identify current and potential employee skill requirements in consultation with the Human Capital Function

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • 3-4 years Experience in sales, service, relationship management, credit applications and financial acumen
  • Proven sales track record in the Financial service industry
  • NQF 7
  • Field of Study: Business Commerce
