Ghana desperately needs Rawlings’ type of rule today

Some of the people who hate Rawlings have good reasons for hating him, some were real innocent victims of his era.

However, some of the people who hate him, the louder ones especially were greedy people who got what they deserved.

The so-called entrepreneurs hoarded goods to create artificial shortages so they can sell at exorbitant prices. People formed queues to buy provisions at times 2,3,4 their original prices.

These people hate Rawlings because he descended on them. Yes, it escalated and somehow got out of hand but it was for a greater good. Most of the people who hate him deserve what they got, they were the evil people at the time abusing the system. Ghana deserved exactly what Rawlings served to be what it is today.

We just saw a glimpse of it at the peak of Covid-19 when some greedy traders increased the prices of goods. Imagine a year in such a condition. This is what Rawlings stood against. Those who sold goods hated him, those who buy loved him.

Buyers outnumber sellers so not bad dealing with a bad seller to make life easier for the many sellers. The mistakes made all led to the Ghana we have here, not perfect but if we look around our neighbouring countries, we can say it was worth it.

Those who suffered unjustifiably should find a place to move on for the sake of their own wellbeing, the kalabuley people who want to act as victims can go and burn the sea.
