About Ghana National Fire Service, GNFS

The primary aim of the Ghana National Fire Service at its established in 1963 by Act 219 was firefighting and extinguishment, and to render humanitarian services. Subsequently, in 1997 the Ghana National Fire Service Act (Act 537) was enacted to re-establish the Ghana National Fire Service with the objective of prevention and management of undesired fires and other related matters with an expanded mandate. The purpose of Act 537 was to expand the functions of the GNFS taking into cognizance modern trends in the Fire Services all over the world; from fire, intervention to fire prevention and safety.

GHANA NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

An eligible applicant for GNFS Recruitment must:

a. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
b. Be not less than 18 years and not more than 30 years of age Officer Corps applicants by 31st December 2020.
c. Be not less than 18 years and not more than 30 years of age for Non-Tradesman applicants and 35 years for Driver/mechanics by 31st December 2020.
d. Be physically and medically fit by Fire Service standards.
e. Be of a minimum height of 1.73 metres (5ft 8 Inches) for males and 1.63 metres (5ft 4 Inches) for females.

Applicants must have a minimum of a Degree in Nursing from an Accredited Tertiary Institution.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – COUNSELORS CATEGORY

Applicants must have a minimum of Degree in Counseling from an Accredited Tertiary Institution.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS CATEGORY

Applicants must have a minimum of Degree in Communication Studies, Public Relations or Journalism from an Accredited Institution.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – LAWYERS CATEGORY

In addition to general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. LLB/BL qualification from an Accredited Institution.
b. Not More than 35 years of age.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – GENERAL DUTIES CATEGORY

Firefighters and Rescue Crew; In addition to satisfying requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. Five (4) credits in SSCE/WASSCE, and a pass in English language or mathematics (D7 or E8).
b. Five (4) credits in the Ghana Education Service (GES) Intermediate Level Certificate, and a pass in English or Mathematics or ‘A’ Level / ‘O’ Level with credit in English.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – DRIVERS AND DRIVER MECHANICS CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:
a. SSCE/WASSCE, ‘O’/’A’ Level, GES Intermediate Level, NVTI Grades I & II Automobile Certificate, City and Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or J.S.S Certificate with 10 years driving experience.
b. Driver License D (minimum).
c. Minimum of three (3) years driving experience.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – IT TECHNICIANS CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. SSCE/WASSCE, ‘O’/’A’ Level, GES Intermediate Level
b. A Professional Certificate in Software Development, Website Development & Maintenance, Database Administration from an Accredited Institution.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – IT TECHNICIANS CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in creative Arts Designs;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate Painting and Decorative Craft;
c. NVTI Certificate II in Painting and Decoration

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – REGISTERED GENERAL NURSES (RGN) – Certificate CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have a Certificate in Nursing from an Accredited Institution.

GHANA FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – BANDSMEN CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in General eligibility, applicants must have SSCE/WASSCE including the following:

a. Regimental Band
i. Should be able to play more than one (1) Instruments including Clarinets, Bassoons, Flutes, Alto and Tenor Sax.
ii. Should be able to read the staff notations.
iii. Percussion: Should be good at every aspect of Percussion.

b. Dance Band
i. Keyboardist should be conversant with all types of songs.
ii. Vocalist must be able to sing all types of songs and back the songs as well.
iii. Bass and Lead Guitarist should be conversant with all types of songs.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – ELECTRONICS/AUTO ELECTRICIANS/ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. COTVET Certificate II;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate;
c. City and Guilds Certificate in Electronics, Auto Electrician and Electrical Engineering.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – ELECTRICIANS CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Electrical Engineering Technology;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation Work;
c. City & Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – CATERERS/HOSPITALITY CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Hospitality and Catering Management.
b. GES intermediate Certificate in Food and Beverage Service.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – RADIO TECHNICIANS CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. City and Guilds Certificate in Electronics;
b. City and Guilds Certificate in Telecommunication.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – RECORD AND ARCHIVE KEEPER CATEGORY

a. Diploma in Archival Studies;

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration Mechanics;
c. City and Guilds Certificate in Refrigeration Technology.

GNFS RECRUITMENT – REFRIGERATION & AIR-CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY CATEGORY

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration Mechanics;
c. City and Guilds Certificate in Refrigeration Technology.

In addition to satisfying the general requirements “a”, “b”, “c”, “d”, and “e” in general eligibility, applicants must have a GSSM Certificate in Survey and Mapping.

GHANA NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE RECRUITMENT – HOW TO APPLY

NB: GNFS Recruitment Online Applications Begins on a date that is yet to be announced to the public.

Carefully read through the entry and recruitment instructions on this page before proceeding to apply for GNFS enlistment. Make your decisions and take note of all the required data in the subsequent steps.

NB: Make sure to buy your e-voucher from any of the GCB Bank branches across the country. You will need the serial number and the pin code from the e-voucher before starting the registration process.

  1. Visit the Ghana National Fire Service, GNFS Recruitment Portal via http://apply.joingnfs.com/
  2. Click on the Apply Now tab and enter the e-voucher serial and pin code details. Select your highest educational level.
  3. Select the preferred branch and enter your Bio and Educational data and upload a passport-sized picture of dimension (200×180) pixels before submitting it.
  4. Print out a copy of the application summary report, which contains details of your Applicant Identification (ID Number) and other relevant data.
  5. Once the application is successfully submitted you can come back before the closing date to print your summary report with help of the card purchased.

IMPORTANT: Supply only genuine data about yourself (Bio & Educational). Any form of false data submitted would not be treated lightly by GNFS command, and defaulters would be apprehended and prosecuted.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by e-mail for Screening and Examination at the Screening Centre selected during the online application

GNFS Recruitment – Medical Examination

Applicants who are successful in the Screening Examination will be invited in batches, for Medical Examination.

Only applicants who are successful in the Screening Examination will be invited for training.

GNFS Recruitment Feeding, Transportation and Accommodation.

Applicants will be responsible for their feeding, Transportation and Accommodation throughout the recruitment
exercise.
