JNB Gateway Security Manager at DHL Express

Key responsibilities

  • To identify, implement and maintain the security measures necessary to minimise and, where possible, eradicate threats to the security of DHL Operations. To recommend counter-measures on incidents and ensure compliance with established internal and external security policy and procedures.
  • To integrate quality into the business by ensuring that every customer contact is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of customer’s immediate and future needs. To implement ISO standards and procedures at all times. Commission, prepare and update Policies and customized procedures within an agreed quality assurance. Ensure compliance with such procedures.
  • Lead and co-ordinate security activities at JNB-GTW and ensure compliance with security procedures as defined in the Regional Security Policy and Procedures Manual, other internal DHL policies and procedures and relevant local legislation.
  • Collate, analyse and report data relating to AWB and non-AWB security-related incidents occurring at JNB-GTW and ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly “Security Incident Reports” to the National security manager.
  • Maintain an up-to-date threat and risk analysis by systematic analysis of JNB-GTW events and criminal trends in the network; advise the National security manager of any changes and recommend counter measures.
  • Initiate professional actions to investigate and resolve security incidents.
  • Ensure yearly scorecard KPI’s are reported and monitored throughout the year.
  • Manage appropriate service capability analysis and mapping to support commercial plans and to ensure up to date
  • Identify best demonstrated practices for reporting and analysis methods and manage their validation and standardization
  • Ensure that JNB-GTW security solutions are compliant to Operations SOP’s & GSOP
  • Support (SCMS) which will encompass security processes, audits and compliance requirements for relevant certification and industry accreditations.
  • Monitor and feedback execution of actions
  • Escalate issues that are not solvable locally

Minimum Requirements

Education & experience

  • Minimum of 5 years logistics/transportation & security management experience
  • University graduate or equivalent through experience
  • 5 years minimum experience within a security role within a country
  • Preferably within different countries or cross-regional experience
  • Hands on Country process & Compliance expertise (including GSOP)
  • Country Operations turnaround experience
  • Regularly reviews and communicates progress against objectives and adjusts as needed
  • Champions continuous improvement and innovation
  • Inspires results and respect through empowerment, accountability recognition and rewards
  • Provides team members with candid and regular feedback
  • Provides team members with development opportunities
  • Inspires employees to develop themselves
