Operator: Roller Coating at South African Bank Note Company

Purpose

To manufacture print-ready quality rubber and roller coats for the Intaglio presses.

Main Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Create chemical mix recipes according to correct measurements to ensure consistency and expected outcomes
  • Keep records of chemicals used and monitor stock on a weekly basis for audit purposes
  • Set the oven according to the specified heat temperature and timing to avoid overheating or under heating
  • Remove the cylinder from the oven to cool off to prepare for polishing or cutting plate to start the coating process according to set guidelines
  • Conduct the necessary tests and measurements to ensure that the cylinder is ready to be cut or polished
  • Keep stock of equipment or tools used in the section to ensure its availability and reliability
  • Liaise with the Plant, Equipment & Maintenance (PEM) Department regarding major machine services and breakdowns to ensure continuous availability and reliability
  • Ensure that safety regulations, procedures and standards are adhered to by identifying hazards associated with assigned tasks and escalating hazards that cannot be mitigated
  • Supervise and train Production Assistants and Apprentices on assigned tasks

The Preferred Candidate is likely to have:

  • Grade 12
  • N4 Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • 1- 2 years’ experience working with chemicals, rubber coating and lathe operation

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Principles of production
  • Knowledge of Printing Industry
  • Numeracy and literacy skills
  • Communication skills
  • Computer literacy
