OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The South African Civil Aviation Authority is seeking to employ an Employee Relations Specialist to provide support and advisory services pertaining to Employee Relations matters.

KPA / MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Co-ordinate and facilitate grievances and disciplinary hearings

  • Ensure that grievances and disciplinary hearings are held in terms of the SACAA policy.
  • Handle all grievances and disciplinary hearing logistics
  • Keep an updated record of employees disciplinary and grievance records
  • Register all disciplinary and grievances matters lodged on the VIP system
  • Refer lodged grievances to the relevant HR representative or authority for resolution
  • Update employees’ records on resolution taken of grievances filed

Advise Line Managers on labour related matters

  • Ensure that Line Managers are updated on labour legislations

Attend CCMA and Labour court matters

  • Provide industrial relations support and attend all SACAA labour disputes
  • File and update records of all labour disputes lodged with any of the labour dispute resolution mechanisms i.e. CCMA and Labour courts

Co-ordinate and facilitate meetings of labour and management.

  • Handle and manage all logistics pertaining to the labour meetings and forum sessions i.e. Venue, Refreshments, etc.
  • Taking minutes during Labour engagement forums.
  • Keep records of all union correspondence
  • Facilitate requests for the release of union representatives as per their organizational rights agreements
  • Provide unions with their monthly membership statistics
  • Facilitate and manage consultation meetings with employees and labour unions.

General Human Resource support

  • Attend induction of newly appointed employees
  • Assist in compiling monthly and quarterly report.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

MINIMUM
Grade 12 plus Human Resources Diploma or Diploma in Labour Relations or Diploma in Labour law
Driver’s license
3 years experience in a Specialist Employee relations role
Experience in Engagement Forum process
Experience in developing HR policies and procedures
Experience in CCMA and Labour Court representation

IDEAL
Human Resource Degree NQF7
Working knowledge of the SAGE300 People system
Union Organizational rights agreements and Management interactions

All SACAA appointments are subject to S98 of the Civil Aviation Act, 13 of 2009 and all successful candidates will be subjected to security vetting.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates in line with Employment Equity Targets.
