Duties & Responsibilities

• The tactical team member(s) will ensure that they are dressed correctly for duty, be of sober mind, conduct a handing over to ensure all messages, equipment and information is carried over correctly.

• Ensure that all registers / permit books are completed correctly and timeously for every shift without fail ( firearm permit books, stock registers, key register, alcohol test register etc).

• Ensure visible ‘policing’, by standing down at Main Entrance points to Val De Vie and Pearl Valley.

• Assist with searches at Pearl Valley and Val De Vie, ensuring the contractors adhere to instructions and enter / exit in appropriate manner.

• Identify possible suspicious behaviour (people trying to smuggle out items, bypass the access and egress measures).

• Liaise with the Shift managers at Val De Vie and Pearl Valley, in regards to patrols, incidents, observations.

• Assist with any emergency situation which may arise on the Estates.

• Response to perimeter alarm / thermal activations, suspicious vehicles, people etc.

• Respond to emergency notifications or requests to assist home owners in the surrounding / greater Paarl area once approved or instructed by our client(s).

• Conduct stress tests at Val De Vie and Pearl Valley every night shift, minimum of 3 per nightshift.

• Speak with local farm workers, owners etc to obtain ‘intelligence / information’ of possible criminal activity.

• Conduct patrols on foot with the use of the patrol dog.

• Liase with local emergency services.

• The catching and proper disposal of snakes found at residents premises and surrounds when required.

• Completing the required administrative work, reports, observations, incident management and forward to the Security Manager and Risk Manager. • Report any identified risks or potential threats.

• Use the cell phones apps provided to report, acknowledge, patrol and inform of any and all observations, incidents etc.

• Adhere to all instructions and requests from the Security Manager and client(s).

• Follow and adhere to all the Estate rules and regulations including those of Thorburn Security Solutions. (This includes the procedure, instructions as described / outlined in additional documentation for firearms, patrols, vehicles, equipment, protocols etc).

• You may at times be requested or instructed to patrol inside of the Estate, however, primarily your patrols are located on the outside perimeters. Do not un-necessarily drive / patrol inside of the Estate.

• Assist and conduct searches of contractors exiting the Estate.

• Conduct full perimeter checks of all areas of the Estate, including fence checks in development areas, adjacent property, farms and or as requested / instructed by the Estate or security manager.

• Conduct Perimeter walks around Estate as per Client’s instruction to inspect the perimeter for any threats, breach points, damages, etc.

• Be visible at the respective areas/ main entrances as requested (do not sit in the vehicle).

• Tactical team will not travel with both vehicles together, members should be patrolling in opposite directions and try be at opposite ends of the Estate.

Skills and Competencies

Emergency response and alarm systems skills Investigation and report writing skills Computer Literacy Excellent Communications Skills

Qualifications

• Grade A or B PSIRA Registered

• Valid driver’s licence.

• Clear criminal record

• Valid Firearms Competency- Handgun, Shotgun and Rifle

• Good physical and mental health – must produce a medical certificate of fitness.

• Tactical experience is compulsory(Must have military or SAPS experience)

• Advantageous if you have completed dog handlers course
